[WIP]Trouble with left leg

Her left leg seems off to me and I'm not sure why.  This is kind of a new style for me.

I think its mainly to do with the line from the knee to the foot on the underside of the leg. Its got a protrusion below the knee. Try just making the line a straight 45 degree one. Eyes could come down a bit, face could use some AA to smooth out the harsh black. Fingers need to be a little longer, mainly her right pinky.

Purple shadow tone could be a little darker to increase contrast. Hair lacks shading. Otherwise coming along pretty well.

@EyeCraft - Thanks for the suggestions.  I tried to implement them as best I could.  The face still needs some work.  Hair too.  This dark crt keeps me from seeing the colors correctly.  Once I get off this one I can clean up the palette a bit more.  I also adjusted a few more things such as the stripe on the shorts, left shoe, hair band, shading on the face and left arm.  Anything else you see?

@Elk - That's a great doodle.  I guess I was going for a bit more cutsie here.  Thanks.

Dpixel, his doodle has nothing to do with the final cutyness. Cutyness often comes from very exaggerated poses! You could do what elk did , with some shorter legs and arms, and there you have a very cute character!

Can't say I agree with that.
Why would a cute little girl take on a dynamic pose like that? I can imagine her not being very good at all at the game, and that's she's just fooling around with the ball a bit.
I very much doubt an athletic pose would do this piece any good. It would only make it less cute.

You guys are failing to see the significance of Elk's reference pic. It doesn't matter that he used a normally proportioned person. It's the fact that he pushed the movement/action to it's extremes and streamlined the action that makes it such an effective pose.

Take the original poster's image, lose the ball, and look at it again. It's not a person kicking a ball, it's a girl walking(in midstride) and pointing at something off the canvas.

I'm not saying Elk's pose isn't more streamlined and a more effective overal pose. Neither am I saying anything about the proportions. I'm saying that that pose doesn't fit the character.

Why would a harmless cute girl assume an athletic pose like that? Why would she even know how to take a shot like that? She's just a cute girl playing around with a ball, she's not supossed to look like she's kicking at a goal in a soccermatch.
(That's what it conveys to me, I assume this is what dpixel intended)

Here's an update on the hair and face.  I adjusted a skin tone as well.
I'm thinking more contrast on the clothing shading and eliminating all the black outlines..still keeping it fairly dark?  Kind of like the hair.

Actually I'm getting some ideas for Elks doodle.  I may start another thread.
