Pixel Art / Re: Help with character sprites...!!
« on: December 17, 2010, 04:00:25 pm »
Okay, found a good host for my images, so here they are. hopefuly they won't get messed up again.

Once again, here's the first party addition. this version is edited, so it's more acceptable.

and here's the protagonist. Haven't changed him since i last uploaded.

Unfortunately, I can't see my own work through this image host, so be a little specific with your crits, please.  :)

Overall, these are good! I believe the NES limitations on sprites is four+ transparent, so these fit that requirement well.

The one thing i would say needs some improvement would be color choice in general, namely for the wolves(?) six sprites down. IMO, it looks a little off to have such highly contrasting colors in the palette. try changing the yellow-ish sone to more a cool gray. that'll work better with the, what looks like, blue shade around the outside of the form.

The blonde girl... the third one down... Her neck looks a little too long, IMO. Could just be the shading, though. Otherwise, very nice pixelling job!

@Chrispy: The old man looks fine, if you think of his head leaning back a little, as well as to the side. Think about it this way: if his head was strictly tilted to the side, there would be more shading to the forward side of his face (the one facing the audience), wouldn't there?

:-\  The blue run base needs to lean forward a little, to give it that "controlled fall" kind of look that natural running has. look through some manga or how-to-draw books that have running poses in profile, and you'll see what I mean.

Pixel Art / Help with character sprites...!!
« on: December 02, 2010, 11:13:56 pm »
Hey guys! I'm working on some sprites for a game i'm making, and just wanted to get some feedback from others.

This is the female party character you get first, after the protagonist. a clear work in progress. i'm not even done fixing the animation frames on this one to an acceptable level.

And here's our protagonist. he's the one i've been working on the most, so he's more "done" than the other one.

Any feedback would be great.  ;D

_Edit_

Sory the picture quality is bad. it's a .png file i pulled from my facebook page, and I don't think my GraphicsGale software can save it as a good file type.

Oh, I love it!  ;D especially how the hair kinda bounces in the running animation. the motion looks very natural to me, so it's a good sprite. :3

Very cool!  ;D i like how the forward arm swings evenly.

One critique, though. The head seems to bounce too much, making it seem like the neck is stretching unnaturaly.  ??? try making the head move an equal pixel count to the body.
