After Sunset

on: January 28, 2010, 04:11:47 pm
I got this finished.

The sidewalk looks a little plain compared to everything else (thanks for that tip on pixeljoint, Manupix  ;D). What do you think?

In my opinion you should remove the dithering, it kinds of ruins the composition. Nice choice of colors!

I agree, I think the sidewalk looks boring and at a weird angle. I'd eliminate the sidewalk and move everything down so the skyline is at the bottom 1/3 mark, and do something interesting in the sky perhaps, like clouds or an effect from the setting sun. Right now it looks like at the edge of the sidewalk is a cliff, and the city is at the bottom of the cliff.

Yeah, now that you mention it, the sidewalk does look kind of awkward.

Where is the dithering? Are you talking about the lines on the sidewalk, or one of the buildings in the distance?

There is dithering on the nose.

I like the sign that says EAT in the background in all caps.

Great style, too. I agree with you a bit on the sidewalk, it looks just a bit out of place. I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out, though.

On the point of dithering, I believe the nose would looks best without it. The dithering just doesn't fit the style in such a large quantity. I'd suggest either dumming it down a lot or simply removing it altogether.

I think the sidewalk fits the whole style here.  As far as being plain, maybe add some more foreground details.  I could see and old newspaper blowing around or a lamp post or a mailbox.  This is really nice the way it is though.
