Editing it now wouldn't be quite OK.
Why is that?

Hehe, you see, after throwing a piece into a gallery, I always promise myself I won't change anything. I wouldn't probably stop making some cosmetic improvements here and there.

Many people rated it, some added to their favourites. Playing with it would 'confuse' the situation. :)

Cheers!

I probably give it a try on the occasion of my next piece.  Maybe you should make something, too?
Aha!

Lovecraft! wonderful portrait! The colour setting and that distant lightning flash (or fire) make him look a kind of diabolical. :)

The gray/blue relation from the #1 palette is compareable with the orange/brown from this one.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Graphics_Adapter you have the option of using a red (given as #aa0000) instead of a purple with that palette; Trying this out, I think this matches the kind of writing he did better than purple.
If you insist on being pessimistic about your own abilities, consider also being pessimistic about the accuracy of that pessimistic judgement.

Let's see...

The contrast between the red and blue is a little too big, however, it also makes an interesting effect. I like the purple better, though.

High-intensity (128/255 instead of 64/192)

Interesting!  I thought it was something of a hack, but I believe that Cross Country Canada uses this palette (not that it's the height of graphical skill).  I think I will try it out soon.  There's an intense version of this "palette 3" as well.

Yeah, it's interesting because it's not entirely an even spacing of values.  The two darker shades are closest in palette #2 while the 2 lighter shades are closest in #1.  This is probably why CGA 1 scenes always seem brighter.
