Little RPG Knight - WIP
on:
June 28, 2006, 01:11:06 am
I cant figure out the legs properly, the head is warped, and I stink at arms. Basically, im at a standstill.
EDIT: I did something to finish it. I like it ATM
Hate limbs,
Bleh

His legs look like they are bending, if its a frontal stand still, his knees should face forward, but they look a bit open.
And i can't figure out his face, unless I zoom in.
But the concept is pretty tight =)
Hope to see it finished.

the legs are like that for a reason. Side on they would look like this somewhat:
........../......./
......../....../
.......|......\
........\......|
.........\..../
..........\...\
SA for the knees, I put them slightly to the side, as if he were crouching slightly.

i think you 'ave got 3 problems atm.
1 - everything is perfectly symmetrical and flat
2 - the torso is remaining upright despite bending the knees (awkward and unbalanced)
3 - view is straight on
suggetsions :
place one foot and arm closer to the viewer, using slightly darker values for parts that are farther away. also, move your light sorce to one side or the other and you will thank yourself for ever
change the torso so that it leans forwards to compensate for the shift in balance and also looks more ready and poised
and everything down a bit so that you get a more overhead view. straight-on like this you pretty much cannot make this pose look good without a lot of work

The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

Decided on a total rework. I think I have the perspective getting better, but I haven't tried to remove the mirrored appearance yet.

you can make the metal hightlights a bit smoother by incorporating some skin tones into it, and it also makes it look like th metal is reflecting a bit of the skin..
heres an edit to show you what i mean:

hmm. Interesting, but I wont worry about that now. I cant nail the perspective yet. The head really bothers me. I cant get it right.

you say youre having some perspective problems, are you going for a perspective like this?
(dont mind the sprite, just the perspective)

Yeah. I want the Classic RPG perspective. I cant seem to do it on the limbs.
