Chiron

on: January 30, 2011, 10:47:42 pm
Hey, i just finished reading the Divine Comedy by Dante
Anyway, i'm planning to pixel all the mythological creatures/people that are in the story.

Starting with Chiron, the centaur that shoots arrows at people trying to escape from the river of lava.

Lineart

I have started to try and colour it in, but i just want to make the lines/stance etc perfect before i start

Started to colour in, but realised the anatomy is off around the chest. Tried to fix, but i still think it's off.

Tried to re-do the legs so they're more horse like.

Redid chest, used http://www.zbrushcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=91817 as reference (Thanks cure)

Am i heading in the right direction? changed the legs a bit, not sure if the stance he's in would show the left (his left) arm or not.

This is a great start, keep at it. Make sure to create strong form on the arm to really sell how muscular this guy/thing is.
Might also benefit with a stronger or wider chin. Look at chins. Start blocking in your colors and remember your light source(s).

Thanks for the reply.
About the muscles, he's meant to be less of a strongman, but more defined and perfect. Since, i feel, because of the mythological aspect of the character, it only does him justice to not stray from the original depictions.
But now, you've got me wondering whether i should go for more a grotesque image due to him being in hell.. hmm. When i finish this, i think i'll do another with battle armour, and just more 'hell' worthy.

Changed the chin a bit, and i must say for something so quick, it's changed the whole picture.

Yo dude, can we stop the double posting, yeah?
ok crit, the abs look like a lobster... maybe a less dark line joining all the muscles together...

and the shoulders,
this is a reference from another thread active at the moment, it may help with the proportions somewhat, i noticed this with the shoulder.

Ok, bit of a change.
Redrew shoulders, and that general area. Just added quick blocks of colours.

Also redrew legs, which is better?

I'd say the ones that are on the same ground level, but say if you agree/disagree.
