You’re scrolling through your Memories, looking for that one specific photo, and suddenly you realize something is missing. Not just a random selfie, but the "vault." You know the one. The place where you stashed the photos that were a little too personal, a little too goofy, or just meant for you.
So, where is My Eyes Only on Snapchat? Honestly, it hasn't moved, but the app's layout can be a total maze if you haven't used it in a while.
Most people panic thinking their photos were deleted. Take a breath. Usually, it's just tucked behind a swipe you forgot to make.
The Quick Path to Your Secret Stash
Basically, you need to head into your Memories first. Open Snapchat and swipe up from the camera screen. This is where all your saved Snaps live. Look at the top of the screen. You’ll see tabs like "Snaps," "Stories," and "Camera Roll."

You need to swipe left on those tabs. Keep swiping until you see My Eyes Only.
If it’s there, tap it. It’ll ask for your passcode. You enter those four digits, and boom—you’re in. If you don't see the tab at all, it’s likely because you haven't actually set it up on this specific device or account yet. Snapchat won't show the "My Eyes Only" tab unless there is at least one Snap moved into it.
Why can't I see the tab?
Sometimes the tab just vanishes. This usually happens if you’ve cleared your cache or reinstalled the app. To get it back, you just have to "remind" Snapchat you want to use it.
Go to your regular Memories. Press and hold any random Snap. Tap More (or the three dots) and select Hide Snap (My Eyes Only). If it’s your first time doing this on a new phone, it’ll trigger the Quick Setup wizard. Follow the prompts, set your passcode, and the tab will reappear at the top of your Memories section where it belongs.
What Happens if You Forgot the Passcode?
This is the part nobody likes to hear. Snapchat is incredibly serious about the "Only" part of "My Eyes Only."
If you forget that passcode, those Snaps are effectively encrypted behind a wall that even Snapchat support can't climb over. There is an option to reset your passcode, but there’s a massive catch.

- Go to the My Eyes Only tab.
- Tap Options at the bottom right.
- Select Forgot Passcode.
- Enter your main Snapchat account password.
Here is the kicker: When you create a new passcode this way, every single Snap currently in My Eyes Only will be permanently deleted. Snapchat doesn't store these on their main servers in a way that’s accessible without that specific PIN. It’s a security feature, but it feels like a bug when you’re the one locked out.
Setting It Up the Right Way
If you’re starting fresh or just want to make sure you don't lose stuff again, do yourself a favor and use a passcode you won't forget. Or, even better, use the Passphrase option.
When you’re setting it up, you can choose "Use Passphrase" at the bottom of the screen. This lets you use letters and numbers instead of just a 4-digit code. It’s way harder to guess and sometimes easier to remember if you use a meaningful word.
Moving Snaps In and Out
Once you've found where it is, managing the content is pretty simple. To move something in:
- Open Memories.
- Tap the checkmark in the top corner to select multiple Snaps.
- Tap the "Hide" or "Lock" icon at the bottom.
- Confirm the move.
To get them out—maybe you want to post one to your Story finally—just go into My Eyes Only, hold down on the Snap, and tap Unhide. It’ll jump right back into your main Memories gallery.
Troubleshooting the "Disappearing" Vault
Is the app up to date? Seriously. In 2026, Snapchat pushes updates almost weekly. If your app version is lagging, weird UI glitches happen where tabs don't render. Check the App Store or Play Store.
Also, check your internet. If you’re on a really spotty connection, Memories might struggle to load the "My Eyes Only" header because it's trying to sync your encrypted data.
One last thing: My Eyes Only is tied to your account, not just your phone. But if you log into a brand-new device, you might have to "Move" one Snap to it to make the tab show up for the first time on that hardware. It’s a weird quirk, but it works.
To make sure your most important photos stay safe, try to occasionally "Unhide" them and back them up to a physical hard drive or a different cloud service if you're worried about forgetting your PIN. It defeats the "secret" purpose a bit, but it beats losing memories forever because of a forgotten four-digit code.

Start by checking your app version and doing the "swipe left" move in Memories. If the tab still isn't showing, try moving a single "throwaway" Snap to My Eyes Only to force the menu to initialize.
