Maybe the problem with the attention is because of the overall contrast, but not of the image but of the colors.
I mean, black against light purple contrast a lot. Same with white against black and purple. But is not the same with green against black.

Here I change the color of the flowers "background", to a redish/lotofpain color:
Green vs Red, great complementary colors. Also raise the lightness of the crow.
Remove some of the contrast from the word Pain, putting the same colour as the background.
I'm not trying to say:
use these, as they look terrible, what I mean is, I think you should highlight the flower more, since it's getting kind of lost in the piece. Green against black do contrast, but not as much as the other colours do, so the attention is driven away from the flower.
