A lone tree in need of criticism

on: December 15, 2009, 08:07:23 pm

1st revision (minor):

2nd revision:

I'm not quite sure what i am to say here. It's a tree, and the top of it was made to help a certain Micintexp (whose thread should be visible as well). Then i decided to finish the tree alltogether. What's good, what could be better and such? Also, i'm not sure about whether i should give it an outline or not. An outline would make it more "flexible", but i also kinda like the clean look it has without one. I also think that i might have made it an etch too bulbous, but i'd like to hear what you think before i do anything rash.

Things worth knowing:
- I'm using a limited palette, from the game Cortex Command, once again.
- I'd prefer sticking to this palette, but it's not a must.
- I didn't take any references outside my head.

Right, added a bit of highlighting. Or rather, made the existing highlights brighter. ::)

Those random spots of black are really ruining the image. There are no real light colors, everything is so... dark.

Fix ugly dark spots: Check.
Make stuff brighter: Check.
Add a few extra things: Check.

How's this? (Man, thanks for wanting those branches gone, it really made it look so much smoother)
I'm not a painting.
