[WIP] Graphical Adventure background C+C please

on: October 07, 2009, 06:35:34 pm
Hello everybody \o/ my name is Pera, and this is my first message here.
I don't have too much experience with pixel art but I love it  :) anyway I'm trying to draw some backgrounds for an graphical adventure game (like Day of the Tentacle), so this is my first attempt:

3x

(I know about js function here, but ff3...)

I wanna/need keep it (style) simple, so please don't tell me to add extreme details on the pic, because: I need many backgrounds in my game, and, like I just said, this is my first try with pixels :$
Maybe I could draw some grass and flowers.. don't know.... What do you think?

Thank you people and greatings from Buenos Aires !!!

Hey there, looks interesting so far. Try not to post scaled up stuff here - this site uses a blow-up script that lets us click to enlarge images if we want. Posting them already scaled up undermines our ability to look at your work - just a friendly alert.

How did you create this? It looks like a photo color reduced and touched up. The large flat area at bottom is formless, not sure what's going on there. All the dither is hurting rather than helping. Too much dither serves only to muddy detail, not enhance it. Try more clever texturing tricks with the colors you've got. Dither is easily overdone.

The vehicle doesn't seem to scale with the surroundings.

Dark lower half of backmost mountain range seems like a huge shadow cast on the mountain, but id could also be another set of peaks close to us than the lighter ones; not sure.
