[WIP] The girl has a red skirt but no hair yet

So, I started making this:

Looks not bad to me for now, except for some slight flaws.
So, I am not only planning to finish this but also planning on earning some experience.  
Also, I'm still experimenting with the head shape I'd appreciate some help on that too.

Made the foot flat so it sits level.
Also I thought that the folds in the skirt go up a little high. Specially the one on the left.
You also have two oranges that are very similar in color those could be combined into one.
The face is roundish, kinda shaped it a little.
I just made a random bit of hair but I hope it gives you and idea.

Hmmm I don't know about those highlights on the hair, should I remove them?
In the game the sprite will be x2, in x1 the highlights of the hair look okay but in x2 there is too much contrast :0

Use a lighter color for the shading of the hair. Another edit:



Re-used the darkest shade of her skin for the hair. You were going for a dark blonde/light-brown color?

Nah, i wanted to make it a normal brown (maybe a bit reddish).
That's a really good edit though~
Crits on the rest of the sprite are appreciated too

Right now, the biggest problem is your pallet. The sprite has around 11 colors. Not bad really, but some of the colors are just so similar, that some could just stand to be replaced, or have their color changed slightly. I took a shot at it. The new one has around 8 colors.

It looks very much the same, but has quite a few less colors. I don't know if you were aiming for color conservation, but it's a good thing to keep in mind.
I also added some highlights to the hair and eyes. When working with brown hair, a shade of skin color quite often works very well for highlights too. There are also a few other things, but I'm running really short on time, so I'll let the edit speak for itself. Hope this helps!

I did some changes, played around with colours and tried some slightly different shading ;o
