Argyle, have you tried older versions of photoshop on that laptop? PS 5.5 is the lowest version that includes important pixel art features like "save for web".

Why save for web would be important feature for pixel art? Isn't Image-Mode-Indexed enough?

Oh, hey, what do you know, they do the same thing! I'd been using save for web when handling indexed images. Though, I don't really use photoshop for pixel art. I guess you could go even lower, Argyle, if the photoshop release you were using was to weighty for your computer.

Heh, yeah.  Using CS3 on it as I occasionally have to use it at work.  I will consider it though!

Pixen is has been dead for some time, and the corpse is beginning to smell.

Not to dig up this old thread, but you can turn Deluxe Paint Animation into a normal style apple app if you use Boxer. (I use it and DPaint II enhanced for larger pixel pieces.)I've been using it and exporting a PCX sequence then importing it into another editor for export as a gif. Not the fastest workflow but it works. Oh and the files you save are saved inside the app. Right click on it and explore package contents, go inside the next folder to find the pcx files. Just drag and drop to your external editor. Boxer's pretty easy to figure out, but if you have difficulty I can send you my app, I even set the icon to the box art.
