i was wondering about methods of scaling pixel art. how would i go about increasing the size of pixels without making it blurry/smooth, and keeping the proper porportions?

Wrong forum, but I'll reply anyway. Decrease the colour count before scaling (depends on your program how to do that; in Paint Shop Pro 7 I usually set it to a 16 colour palette/less if my palette is smaller): it can't add any colours that way.

Look for nearest-neighbor scaling. In photoshop you can change the way Photoshop handles scaling in the settings. Otherwise, the easiest way to keep the proportions is by scaling in 100% integers equally on the horizontal and vertical axis. AKA, to double the size of a picture, scale it 200% on h/v.
