Super Princess Saver

on: March 20, 2009, 05:06:47 am
I've been working on some sprites for a short movie my girlfriend is making for school. The movie is going to be a real world representation of a video game and will only really be used for the intro and ending. These are based off of some drawings she did. I still need to make the Princess. I will also be playing the "Bowser" character in the movie so in away this is a sprite of myself!

All crits are welcomed.

(also, I didnt mean them to look as much like muppets as they do haha.)

And a horrible running animation!

Looks very good.

Critique:
It looks to me like the "Bowser" sprite is leaning back too much. I think you should lean him a little forward, otherwise his balance would be bad due to the tail.
Notice how dinosaurs and other bipods with a tail are usually leaning forward.

yeah I agree, Ill pull his upper torso forward though I posed him that way because my posture is similar. I stand with my hips forward like that.

Selout is bad. I urge you to use some real outlines. I like the overall construction, however.

Shoot, thanks for pointing that out. It wasn't intended to be selout, I meant to make it look like a hint of shadow. I'll change it though as its clearly adding a dirty edge.

The cartoon feel of the animation is okay, but it lacks weight, make it move vertically higer, and faster downwards.

Make the run less pendulummy and more eliptically.

Why does he switch what hand the rope is in so much?

I think the rope needs more tension if it's going to look like he's actually pulling her, rather than just wagging the rope.  I'd keep the rope more of less stable and have one or both hands constantly holding it, it's not like he could move his arms as if he were running normally while carrying a full-grown person behind him.
