Cop and other pixels

on: March 11, 2009, 06:06:31 pm
Instead of studying I did some random pixeling.   ::)

Latest

I don't know if the sprite is clear enough but it's supposed to be a cop with gun and living hat that has siren attached on it's head.

I'm not a really good animator as you can see so all the advice to make animations smoother/better are welcome.  :y:

Also I'm not sure if the blue I'm using should be a bit brighter?

(I don't remember where to put commas in english, so if my sentences are messy sorry about that   :n:. It's been a while since I wrote something in english...)

Cute! I think it's readable as-is, but a brighter blue would probably help anyway. The only thing that bothers me is the way the hat's left eye moves around when he's walking.

Awe, this is quite cute.
I think maybe his gun arm should go behind the gun I dunno why it just seems odd in front.
Also if you could give him the same lift he has when his left leg goes in front.
Cause the right leg seems to be less dynamic.

Notice in one frame how none of his feet are on the ground, either fix that or add it to the same frame for the opposite leg if that makes sense. :]
Looking good though I'm not sure I like the selout on his helmet since he has it no where else.

Looks cool, this reminds me of old snes bomberman games haha. I have an objection though, and is with the animation... the part with the hat, that was previously mentioned, it doesn't coordinate well with the rest of the animation. In my opinion, the ball shouldn't bounce at all like that.

Its good to work on a literally, gray background, helps a lot. Fixed the light-source, tried to make it stand out more, this was really fun to edit I gotta say, you got a great style going for you.

my only question, why on the helmet it jumps up and down, but the two 'dots' which im guessing are holes are something. why are they staying in the same place?

your choice of color, is your voice of color

Thanks for the great freedback everyone!

Yeah the way it moved was pretty disturbing but should be better now.  ;D

The new gun animation is still wip, but i'm working on it. I don't know if the left leg has more dynamic move now( I did a small chance, not really that notable), I'm working on it too. I also tried to make the 2nd frame to similiar to 4th but the result was bit wonky, so I'm trying to figure what to do with it.
I used selout to make the helmet more roundish, without it the helmet looked too blocky imo. I added selout to cop's arms to balance it more.

Now that you mention I can see the similarities too.  ;D Well I tried to make it less bouncy, but the idea was that the hat is blobbyish so it's supposed to bounce. :)

That there is a one handsom edit.  :y: I tried to fix light-source more in mine and ripped the badge thing on his chest (hope you don't mind  :blind:, I'll remove it if it bothers you  :)). Also changed my palette a bit.

The eyes should be better now.  :)

I would remove the outline on the right side of the lamp

Looks much better now, I think.  :)

One nitpick though: the light at the top seems to be moving back and forth more than the helmet is, and creates the illusion that it's sliding around.
