Thanks a lot for the kind words, Joshua!

. . . and for pointing the contrast issue out.  The problem is, having only 3 colors + the light gray in this case for each 8x8 pixel square (or 4x8 when we shrink it down to the regular 160x200 pixels), it's quite difficult to make the face stand out.  Anyway, the one below might do the trick.  I didn't light up his face since I fear it may lose that soft, photorealistic feeling to it -- though I might take my experimentation yet further and try it.

I'm still letting it flow here before "releasing" on Pixeljoint and [CSDb] so you can shout freely if there's something you don't like.

Some fugly selout on the left cheek (ours) and left jawline to neck could use some aa. Otherwise this is tops.

Hah, thanks a lot!  I think it could be dubbed as a branch, or something -- I don't want the face to run together with the background, but I'll see what I can do.  Hold on with converting the file (check PM)!
