I'd say a better anatomical practice would be on something more original and something that actually has a realistic face. As it stands, your tribal man's face is really cartoony and doesn't look a thing like an anatomically correct head would. It looks good, though. It just didn't match the body you were trying to force upon it.
I'd say a straight on, cartoony pose with him holding a staff would be interesting. Maybe make him crouch a tad, too.
