My Ostrich Dinosaur Dragonfly bush...thing?

on: November 25, 2008, 01:43:55 am

I'm working on another random sketch thingy. I started on it yesterday and head my progress. The bush was originally going to be feathers, but I messed up on those. Id like to have some C+C on how to get it more bush like, or more feather like.
Ive twisted everything a bit for personal preference, but please point out if it does not resemble an ostrich or a dragonfly (head) enough.

Any other C+C would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see any dragonfly here.

Wow, that's great advice. :/

Destiny, I'm really digging your palette. As Fatalis might have meant to say, I think you need to work on giving the impression of a dragonfly head. I understand it's the part below the neck, but you might want to work on making it stand out a bit more.

For the bush version- if it's actually supposed to be a bush, it doesn't look like one. Bushes aren't so smooth and routinely shaded. You should try to give it a more realistic texture if you're looking for making a "bush."

For the feather version- you're better here. It looks more realistic in my opinion. There's a bit of pillowshading going on, though, but I'd have to say I'd go with this version. You might also want to try and put a bit more depth into play, as it looks fairly flat.

All in all, I'm liking the concept and pixeling so far. Keep up the good work!
