Ever tried drawing from life? This is improper anatomy, study human shapes much, much more than this.

well the proportions aren't really bad, so to speak. its clear you are basing your self on a grid. but you might wanna start by drawing from life, likes TrevoriuS sugested. thats the only way to get the feel of it onto the paper/screen

after you get confortable with reading shapes is when you should start aplying rules and adapting what you see to the  rules and vice-versa
Image size doesn't matter! It's what you do with your pixels that counts!
