abstract shmup: new enemy

on: November 02, 2008, 12:28:30 am
i think this piece is finally finished.

for style issues: i recommend viewing my gallery and getting in touch with the abstract style which you might or might not like: Gallery

comments and crits on this piece are appreciated, i don`t need a super qualitiy image because this one shows up in my shmup for a split second... "okay" or "well designed" words would satisfy me.

in advance:

thanks all!

Everything is art really, it is just a matter of looking at it that way.

From the title I thought this was going to look like a chess piece. Guess not  ???

I have no idea what its supposed to be, so I can't comment on the form.

The grey highlight on the red parts needs to go, it looks bad.

The shadows / highlights are inconsistent. This is part of the problem of drawing something that has no real life equivalent.

Seems like there are a lot of unnecessary black outlines inside the shape which make it look messy. Especially on the right half.

Even though your pixeling isn't half-bad, the overall effect looks poor due to the unidentifiable object you created.
