[WIP] Frozyn Character [Updated 8/29]

Hey all, first topic made here. 

This is a front-view sprite I did of the main character for our team's new game, Frozyn.  Trying to improve so C+C is welcome.

It's good, but there's some problems-


-Very stiff pose, also very Robotic.
-Bad Human Anatomy (Big Emphasis on this)
-Palette needs more Hue Shifting
-Very Flat looking

I'm sorry, it's terrible. But, hey, at least i tried.  :)

So, the main problem:

- No real light source.
- Needs more contrast in the colors.
- Anatomy (Terrible in my edit  :-X)

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  And, the amazing edit ;)

As for the stance of the soldier, he is sorta in a wireframe pose if you know what I mean.  Like, a base for possible future poses.  So thats why its a little "Robotic."

Anyway, I've made an update.  Haven't changed much in the stance.  I might get to that later.

I cant realy see an inprovement to you soldier. I would take Bouzolf's sugestions into more consideration.The main problem is the anatomy. I have provided a rough edit.


A few things I did that may help,
-I lowered the arms alittle
-Shrank the head, your is round
-I made the stance lees robotic(I think,it just looks more relaxed)
-Less broad shoulders, yours are very square
-More leg shape aposed to square shape
-Higer contrast/Hue shifted (I like having a bluer tone for a dak grey)


I have no clue how to do the feet, but I'm sure someone can help.
That should give you some stuff to work on.

I would side with ~KING~ on this, you're not paying very much attention to the edit provided. Be a little more bold and don't be afraid to drastically rework areas of this guy.

Why does that naked man have backwards hands?

I feel like I should put something here so it doesn't look like a "lol unrelated" post. The colors look muddy, you might need more saturation to really get some color identity working. Also, pay attention to the anatomy. Even if you don't know much anatomy, it shouldn't stop you from rushing in there and seeing what you can do. Try not to mirror, you'd be surprised how much better things would look if you drew the whole thing, and not just half.

Ok, thanks for all the critique.  I have decided to re-do the whole peice, seeing just how many flaws my previous version had, as well as my awesome talent for human anatomy ;) .  I've used KING's edit and that guy with the vagina (:P) for reference.


Obviously, I have yet to do the hands and feet, as well as add color and shading, but its a start.  Feel free to edit the pallet I've provided as well, still don't exactly know where to go there.

Still problems?

EDIT: Update - He was a little fat, so I thinned him out a bit.  As well as fixed a few other things.

I'm not much of an anatomy expert, but I am familiar with the basics. here's a quick animation I made showing the difference between yours and mine.
