Iso Characters

on: August 08, 2008, 04:14:47 pm
Hi everyone ;D !
I was working on an angel character for a project I'm working on (I-angel), but my character was too far from the original design, but I was very proud of it so I worked on some equipement updates.

6 colors + trans.  ::)

No need to cite my inspiration, anyone knows it's Adarias  :)

I think I'll do demons, orcs, elves, zora thingies and others if I have some ideas.

Any crits appreciated  :D

Thanks =)

You seem to have a black border in everything but the feet, and that makes them look cut off.

Since that's the only place on the sprite that it's in contact with an exterior surface, I'd say the lack of black on the soles is fine.
The sprite looks great, perhaps some less muted colors?

shouldn't knock the palette being that it's basically like how i used to work, but i think an intermediate shade in the skin (some kinda salmon shade perhaps) would help soften him a bit and breath life back.  Also can help distance flesh from metal.

middle one is for sure my fav

and i agree about not having the black on the bottom it's a smart choice imo.

But I still prefer the old one though.

which is one of the things that makes these yours :)

thanks for humoring me with the salmon though.  For what it's worth, I prefer the new ones, though i'd also raise the G value of the new entry about 10 points :P.

The third is with G value +10 and the last raw are some tests with the colors

I think I'll continue playing around with colors  :)

Doesn't change the color that much, can't even see the difference at 100% size.
After making some tests, I need selected my 2 favorites palettes.
I can't choose between those 2 color schemes

i vote for top.  bottom is too monochrome even with extra shade.

and since when is pixel art all about the 100%? :P

I would go for the buttom one.
great work and a wonderful pallete - two advices :
1 - maybe you want to add more darker lines to really make the texure bolder..
2 - give a light line on the right side of the mask to make it looks more 3D

I really like these, but the further wings from us are all bugging me i'm sorry to say. I think that there might be a perspective issue.

It looks to me like the wing closest to us is on an angle heading back from him, whilst the further wing is almost straight on from the character. I can't be sure if this is the case, but something about the further wing is off putting to me, perhaps something else is causing this problem I am seeing. Keep up the good work, I like what I am seeing.
edit* the more I look at it the less this seems like an issue  ???

I definitely think you should go with the top one, the bluish color of the wings gives it a good look. I agree that the other scheme looks too monochrome. But otherwise the sprites look excellent
