wow, big brother, that is beautiful.

i feel all insignificant now. 
heres my most recent update:
(Got rid of the dithering and tried, repeat tried, to add ambientish lighting.)

why can't i click on stuff and zoom?  anyway, i know the shine on the lower part of the ufo doesn't correspond with the cockpit's shading, ill fix that later. i like it though.. kind of funky.

@coran: If you want to add ambient lighting, please make it pink and from the right (look at my battery) for consistency
looks good so far! It'd look better if you removed the outline of the UFO's lightbeam though.

I PMed Ptoing it's fine with me to move up my WIP to free the other two tiles.

Er, it is however a WIP though and I did plan to cover all three tiles, so you know, don't judge too early like that ok. I was in fact wondering if I should free those tiles, but I thought my piece would be too large to allow that, so I never asked.
