Good overall pixeling, but exactly what view are the shaded ones?

front / back or side? Really, its hard to tell. And either way the light source is a little whacked.

V1 are better then V2 IMO. V2 is too dithered. Don't dither so much the sprite is way too small for it.

Running animation looks good but might be bouncing too high.

Better?
I removed dithering, and added the leg lightningy thing.

Great sprite! :D Very cool concept! It's refreshing to see a technology-based character that's not all angular and geometric.

I don't understand EvilEye's confusion at all....
I think the lighting is perfectly consistent and excellent all-around. I don't know what kind of background the game would have, but the selout is pretty intense. Just something to think about. I'd love to see the leg lightning animated!

The arm and leg motions of the walking animation are very smooth, but the up/down motion is pretty jerky....

I actually liked the hight of the earlier version of your running animation. The only reason it looks too bouncy is that you have the bounce backwards; he pops up then floats back down like a balloon with legs. What you want to do is have him push up against gravity, then get quickly pulled back down. Another thing that sticks out with the animation is that he's not really running, it's more of smooth jog; when you are running, you never straighten your legs like your robot does. The last thing I'd like to point out is that , when you're running, your legs act a little bit like a pendulum, in that they decelerate upon hitting the ground, and then again when your foot leaves the ground, and speeds up in passing; your animation doesn't have any acceleration or deceleration, this gives you the illusion of weightlessness. I'd also recommend that you slow the animation down a tad bit, because right now it's a bit hard to pick up the smaller details.

 Not really what I meant. You had 2 frames ( frame 4 and frame 8 ) where the head was 1 pixel too high. If you wanted a sharp bob in the run then it works but if you don't here is what it should look like. Also slowed it down a bit so you can see it better

 

My confusion about the direction was partially because I didn't know that the eyes were eyes, looked like ears and the green spot looked like a facemask.

But also the left arm looked bent backwards making it seem like you're looking at his back. Fixed in the newer version

The new version looks flatter but the lighting is clearer

I put newer versions of both the sprite and the animations.
Think the animation is ready to be sprited?

Not quite, but keep it up; your animation is getting much better. :y:

You got the right idea but there are a few problems with it.
The frames are not evenly timed; this makes the animation look weird and a little bit jerky. It's best to keep the timing on all of the frames even.
His leg is still straightens a bit too much for a run.
I'm not sure how fluid you want the animation to be but I decided to edit it to illustrate my critique.


I don't really like working with neons. :P

I just shifted the limbs here and there to show how slowing them down at the extremes can add to the reality of the run,
bent his leg a bit more when it was in its forward position, adjusted the timing of the animation, and just general tweaking here and there.

I may try to color the animation soon, any last crits?
I've added the most recent animation to the first post.

Also I started on tiles and stuff.
Here are tiles, I just did platforms. Im not sure what else to do... Please suggest ideas.

And here's just a boring repeating background, if you have a better idea for background stuff please share.
