First of, research some tables. With a bit more contrast and maybe a nice texture in there it could look fairly nice.

Things on the table? What is the table being used for?
A dining table would have things in preperation for some sort of meal, and decorations. Quick google search.

Erm, think of anything else you would possibly have on a table, look around your house.. Books, clutter, drawing equiptment, vase, etc..
Google is your friend.
Oh and for your table outline I'd suggest using a shade darker than that of the tables base colour. It does no favours for the depth. Plus you could do with a more believable camera angle, well.. you're perspective could be much more natural.
bit like this, rushed so may not be illustrated too great but has perspective based on a horizon.

Using 2 point perspective in this image is a rather good idea...
