He's right actually. My initial goal WAS to get the characters standing out, which eventually resulted in me cheerfully decorating your mock in satisfying colors.

Actually thats pretty nice.
What bothers me a bit is the lack of shading or let me say so,
the lightning is extremely neutral, but i assume its a style choice.

I dont know if thats a style choice either, but esp. the treetops lacks a little dynamic.

see

I dont messed with the shading/palette, cause the guys above already worked on it.

Hi there!

Thanks for all your great comments!!

This is my final edit before I go on with the game, I need to draw some enemies, do some animations and stuff..

I changed the Groundtiles so they are more visible and i changed the palmleaves!

Thank you again for you efforts! It's been very educational!
I will give you a download link when the game is done! Keep an eye open!   ;D

something is still looking weird in the palmtrees' tops, imho.
as if shading and general shape of the leaves had no relationshipˇ
hm, if you have to make a critic..maby you should have something important to say about it and explain why and come with a conclusion?

Well, sorry, it seems i just didn't made myself clear enough. I'm really trying to help with my 2 cents, you know.

Anyway, seeing the very top of the tree that dark makes little sense to me, and the fact that all leaves "high-reflection" areas appear in circle doesn't match with what i intuitively expect given the shape of a palmtree's leave.
That being said, i suck at drawing palmtrees, so i can't suggest a better way to go, unfortunately, except pointing at some Donkey Kong Country snapshots :(

Coming along quite nice. Just wanted to point out the arms on both characters have different length.
There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

looks gorgeous so far.  I would love to play this game.
the house seems a bit small to fit anything more than a person contantly standing or leaning against the walls.
maybe if you made that into a shed or something and made an obvious sign showing that it's a shed...

It's not going to do him any good to have huge houses there. Basically every RPG includes the law of spatial distortion within houses, why not platformers? Look at the main character, it's obvious his pockets have the same spatial anomaly, being able to store a gun, a backpack, and hundreds of pounds of gold.

Basically, if he can jump 1.5x his own height easily, there's no need to worry about stuff like that.  :y:
