I think the main skin color is really way too gray and dark. Maybe you could lighten it up a bit and make it a little more saturated, or make the other other color a bit darker.

I don't think that sprites should be skewed like that.
If it weren't for the hair, I would think that the girl was a two-dimensional figure stuck in a three-dimensional world.

Hey, this is by Mirre:

Its using some black outlines and some colored outlines like yours. Never figured out how to do that properly, but maybe how the black outline was less broken and also black less likely to be used on top could improve your piece.

Is the back view her waving her hand?

@sharprm: yes, she is on the frames 2, 3 and 4. I'll try to modify the black outlines

EDIT: I've edited the elder and made 2 faces form the woman and the old lady

You know when she is standing - her right arm is on her hip and her right leg is forward. It looks awkward, and when i try to do that pose myself it feels funny. So maybe the left leg should be forward. On the 5th frame on back, it is a big change in the size of the hair, might want it more consistent (with black in there too for consistency). I like the portraits so far, especially the old guys expression.  :D

I don't know what your restrictions are but maybe add a few colors to AA the portraits with. You might also want to play around with the contrast and saturation. I think it needs a little more.

Well, I'll add some AA to the portraits, but I want them to look like artistic and not so much realistic.

I don't think there's any relevance between how much aa is used and realism. I echo the sentiment for more finish on the protraits, that look quite nice thus far.

Yep I know, I was talking about the quantity of colors. So ok, I'll work on the portraits.

That's a really nice rought style but if you have the time to invest on your pictures, I suggest you work them a bit more :) There's so much adventure you could have with colors and shapes and whatnot, you don't *have* to of course (especially if you're on schedule) but it's worth exploring.

These two, in my opinion, are quite a few steps above all the others.
I really love the first one infact, but the hair (And scrunchy-tie thing on the first) on all of them looks majorly WIP despite the details.
All of them but the first need to take form into account more, and the colors of the pink girl's skin are way too washed out
The second one, the orange-haired girl, looks like the direction of the face is trying to point in two directions at once.
Attorney's not bad but I think you should rely less on black outlines for your detailing (goes for the elder, too).
The indent on the chin of the first one could be less prominent, too.
Oh yes naked women are beautiful
But I like shrimps more haha ;)

Well.. I'm not really sure to do all that... I mean, it might.. it may get better, but its like very far from the original style (without AA)

And by the way my favorites are the attorney and the old woman.

You mean adding more contrast?

I softened the face, lengthened the nose, moved the corner of the mouth down, gave more structure to the jaw, and fixed his eyebrow.  :)

Still looks a bit off, but I think you'll get the idea.

Haven't done much pixelart lately but felt like doing something. I was too lazy to start anything new( :-[) so I started editing your link portrait. I did many random edits so I made a gif too so you can see what I changed.

I know the neck looks horrible now, but I hope you still find my edit helpfull in some way.

Well, I feel honored to be your inspiration to start editing pixels xD
I'll see what I can do with his nose, because it seems the main problem. All other stuff (like his eyebow, nose shape and face shape) is ok for me :) for example, I meant not to show the ending of his face. Just in 2 portraits I show it, but it's not what I want. and some other minor stuff.
Thanks for all C&C  ;)

Yeah, maybe the lower left side of the portrait showing the end of the face doesn't fit in with the style. But I do think the lower right side could use some work, the cheek is really big and it makes him look fat. Even moving the cheek 1 or 2 pixels to the left would change that.

Don't add the shadow/outline to the left side of his nose. If anything it should be highlighted. The face shape isn't so drastically wrong it needs very much editing. Link has a fairly adolescent face, he would have a jaw favoring square over thin. Also, if you make it too thin his other eye doesn't fit...

It isn't so much as moving the cheek to the left as it is giving him a more pronounced jawline through making the angle more acute.

The eyebrow does need to be trimmed a little where it goes up because that just doesn't happen - Eyebrows normally don't span the bridge of the nose.  :y:

Hey everyone
I didn't want to start up a new topic about the exact same thing, so I'm updating this old one

So much time with no pixel art lol
well, anyways here are some updates and some artworks
Luteniant concept

Adlez concept

Link con.

Shinikun con.

Cursed Princess

Although she may not seem very medieval-ish, I really like how it ended up - kinda, because I'm not sure if it's finished.

Marx

Very WIP. I have some concept of him somewhere in my house, so I'm uploading it whenever i find it :D

==UPDATE==
Luteniant

-portrait. I kinda like it more now :]

Chikoen :/

I can't figure out how to do her fine! D:

Adlez

Same here :0

I really impress by the sprite quality! The color theme have a very "Legend of Zelda" feel to it too.

My only complain will be the toning on links clothes. It made them look kinda dirty in comparison. I'd try to go for a much cleaner look, like what you have for the top down sprite.

The portrait suffers a little from the dirty look too.

@ politopo: Well i did, or tried to but i can't do much more that that.. i have to finish her once and for all, but thanks :]

Here i'm updating with 3 concepts of Marx (yeah, I find them hehe), his portrait, still wip, and some edits here and there...
I think it's better..
I forgot to post it before
