shiny metal surface reflection

on: February 19, 2008, 04:26:05 am
well, I think the title talks for itself...
I tried to do that effect a dozen of time while I was pixel arting, but never got an even (nearly) satisfying draw. So, I'm asking you here, how do you make something glows (as if it were metal) in a pixel art with 3 or 4 colors??
I thxn you before hand..

Take a look at the chaos engine:

Also, you should post some of your attempts.
Modern artists are told that they must create something totally original-or risk being called "derivative".They've been indoctrinated with the concept that bad=good. The effect is always the same: Meaningless primitivism

shine is a matter of closely grouped lights and darks.  also, lights will sometimes expand beyond themselves halo-style over (not into! coronas always obscure detail) shadows that shouldn't otherwise receive light.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.
