Ptoing inspired skull

on: January 31, 2008, 11:15:34 pm

Inspired by ptoing's skull.
The jaw is still under construction as are the teeth and eyes.

Edit: I realized his nose was upside down.
I also have begun dithering.

Dither too much?
Changed up the jaw and the bridge of the nose.

I think P-TOE's pieces seem more inspired by simpler geometric shapes, which together make goofy, but great art when put together. Right now, the dither seems to be taking a bit away from what he generally tries with his geometric style, though he has other pieces with dithering in them. By itself, it's looking good, but in terms of similarity with Toeman's style, it's not matching very well. But maybe it'll develop a bit more, so what the hell do I know...

The first copy was inspired by ptoings skull.
As I said only inspired by, not trying to match his style.
Only similarity is that I used only 45 90 and 180 angled lines.

the mirrored lighting makes it look pillowshaded and nooby.  If you're going to try and emulate any part of sven's style, I would recommend the inspired lighting and color choices!

His skull inspired me to make a skull.
Just couldn't come up with a better topic title.

But yes, I'm aware that it's just a mirrored image.
Probably could do more for the lighting.
I like it at the moment, more looking for critique towards structure.
The eyes are really weird shaped, but that's because it's hard to make a good round eye using straight lines.
