[WIP]characters concept

Hello all,

I'm making a new original concept with Djinns as characters, I think I will do a game mockup later, maybe a platformer or an rpg...

So here the concept art of the first character made in pixel, the hero named Aldo.

I'd suggest you to recolor the whole thing so it follows a light source rather than just mirroring it and adding hair to mask it.
Also some small nitpick, but I would swap the A and R (in CONCEPT ART) since it looks like it says concept rat.

so a new wip version... I would like to clean up but I don't know how...

Good improvement!  I liked the lighter, simpler pants shading better though, and I'd can that white outline, that really hurts to look at!I feel like your guys is lit a bit too strongly from the side on his skin, but not at all from the side on his pants too, which is a bit confusing...and then its from the side on the shoes again.  Making progress, just keep unifying your light and thinking about your forms!

I think you didn't really need to add so much colors. Maybe this is me but i think it gives a better toon looking effect in the first version. If you make the shadows too smooth you get something which looks blurry and flat. Make the shadows sharper and try give more "volume" to the character.
maybe the white outlines are not so useful.
About the hands, i think they look strange (proportions).
And, i guess it would have helped to choose a more dynamic pose, but if we assume this is some kine of model sheet maybe this is not so important ^_^"

yop all,
so I'm working on a game mockup with my character : aldo.
I'm still working on the design of the character...
I've just made the sprite of it to attemps a cartoon/colorful character in the next mockup.

It's a 360° turning animation :



next will be the mockup :D

I really like this latest design. Very cute and original! I also like the rotating animation. however, he does seem a bit flat in it.

yeah i think that too(it is flat because it should to be or it have something wrong?), but it is very cute and funy

thats because the 3/4 angles are too close in comparisant to the front and backs, making the side frames seem to blip too quickly.

love the newest character.
I've not got anything interesting to type here..
