on: August 20, 2007, 02:15:28 am
First post ^^;

Took 30 minutes roughly, might have rushed the dithers. Contemplating adding a face.

Your colors are pretty good, just not enough contrast, nice recycling of colors. Not exactly sure what type of cactus this is but I think you need to make it look more like a cactus so people will know what it is without an explanation. Also, don't work on black/white backgrounds, try a gray color.

editted for colors again.

Sorry there, bengoshia. :] I liked the bright look, I'm really bad with colors though.

Right, with colors, here's a simple explanation:
The darker it gets, the cooler and grayer it(Cooler colors are blue, purple, etc.)
The lighter it gets the warmer it gets and the more colorful it gets(Warm colors are red, yellow, etc.)

I don't like how you dictate this arbitrary, non-holistic process as a rule of thumb. Hue shifting can work anyway, including the way which takes into account the lighting conditions; shadows aren't always cold and highlights aren't always warm.

Was just trying to explain it in simple terms but yeah, you're right Lawrence. For the most part it tends to be that way though, pretty sure about that anyway.

Yeah, I got a bad habit when I first started pixeling of just sliding paint's color selector to get new colors. Like the lighter/darker slider.

This is in refference to your first cactus there. Please refrain from ripping palettes off another artist w/o atleast crediting. It's not nice.
