that is the most basic of basic that i have seen in a while. i can't tell where his legs start, you need a little indentation on the sides to declare where his abdomen ends.

what's with the sword? man that is full of jaggies.

On the side views...It's strange - usually characters have their torso facing the viewer in these kind of sprites on side-views...but no matter, the near arm is too far left. Also in the side view, the crotch is low compared to the front & back views. In fact, the head seems a bit vertically challenged compared to the front & back views as well.

The arms are too short.

Hmm...yeah.
