You've added texture in some places it shouldn't be - the forehead should be smooth, where you've got it kind of walnutty. I think you ought to pick three or four colours/values with good contrast, and maybe add more once you've got it looking good with those - kind of like what you did in th old one, but do it better. If your shading is wrong, it wont help that you used a bunch of different greys. I'm sure you've got pictures of these things - if not, the internet is full of them - so get one, study the shading/textures/lighting, and copy it more closely.
