Feedback on Scenario

on: May 04, 2020, 07:26:17 pm
Hi everyone. I wonder If you guys could give me some feedback about the scenario and the character. I've been working on pixel art for 3 months now, but I'm starting to feel like I'm not improving. I usually use 16 Bit pixel art as inspiration. Could you guys help me?

Hey! I'm no expert either, but i can address some things i think could improve.
The scene looks too saturated/dark... maybe you cold try lighter colors so one can see the assets better. The atmosphere is present and achieved, but some styling issues need to be taken care of, like i said, the color palette and also perspective. It's a top down perspective but the furniture in the foreground looks strange, like it was in another perspective. Stay creating!!

One major thing I see immediately is the mixing of pixel sizes. It almost always hurts the overall piece to be mixing pixel sizes.

Another is the gradient shading on the floor boards and walls. I think every pixel artist at your stage has done that exact same thing. I'd suggest looking at how games have handled interior wood textures.

Don't be discouraged, three months can feel long, but breakthroughs will come if you keep at it. Look for inspiration, look at others' creations in detail, continue creating, keep learning, and you'll improve.
