[wip] goofy funkman

on: July 08, 2007, 09:33:58 am
Hello.

Lineart by Greenwing, pinched from the lineart thread. Been having trouble with anatomy on the arms and torso, been trying to just fudge it, but some help would be much appreciated. Any other crits; also awesome. I don't have a much experience with this stuff.

he doesn't seem right. watch some refference images of people, and pixelart to notice how characters are shaded, those black outlines dont make the image any better.
my way of the pixel? -> minimum effort, maximum quality 0_0

I'm only hanging onto the outlines until I get the surface shading figured, but maybe it is a bad idea?
EDIT:

This top forearm is really killing me. I'm trying to sculpt it so it looks like a real arm without actually changing the shape of it.

edit:

I don't think 'a bunch of dithering' will prove to be the solution I thought it might be.

I think that it looked better before when the light source was primarily below his feet. Our right foot, his left, looks much better in the first shot.

I think you should shade the rest of him like that too. If you have problems with his other foot, just look at his left (our right) foot and try to measure the points of his right foot that corresponds exactly to the position of his left in that angle and then color them accordingly.

I'm tired, I'm not making any sense :< Why has my english begun to suck so immensely? D;

I think the problem with this is that you're coloring abstract lineart in a somewhat realistic fashion. It looks pretty awkward. Fixing that double-jointed left arm would be a good start.

I realize that. That's half the fun, right there. I'm just not sure I can pull it off.

Is this better?
