Nice tree. The trunk is too dark overall, has too many colors and the shading is kind of random. The browns are weird, I think they're too reddish.

for where i live, the trunk is fine, that's what all trees look like up here.

you begin to lose a lot of forms in the middle of the leafy portion, i would try to pull those out and separate them into distinct shapes.
A mistake is a mistake.
The same mistake twice is a bad habit.
The same mistake three or more times is a motif.

Sup and2, been a while. Well I know there are some mistakes, but i cant pick up on it. I can only hint on the trunk shape and color, and maybe the leaves needs to have more dynamic colors. If you go to the Recorded Pixel Pieces thread HERE and you watch Helms Platformer Mockup, at around 10 mins you will be able to see him make his tree. IMO is pretty amazing, and the recording is even better then a step by step WIP.

Good Luck.

He forgot to mention that this is for my game Shade Wood. He's the head gfx artist on the team, and doing a very good job at it too. I love his work.

advocate: your game is kinda irelivent to this topic...

and2:

i think one of the problems is that you have many colors withought enough contrast.  also, i think you should add some hard edges to the tree, to give it some 'charicter'.

also, i kinda feel like the leaves are pillow shaded, but i guess it looks alright anyway.

It's not irrelevant. I was just posting why he decided to make the tree is all. ^_^

I like it as is, but he doesn't like the trunk. Only thing I see wrong with the trunk is it's a bit dark compared to the leaves.
