Ignigenahs, The Fire God [WIP]

on: April 10, 2007, 02:33:14 pm
Something big again. Got some basic shading, tried a few details to see how I could detail this big thing.
Tell me what you think:

(I'll get back on the rocks later)

I like the way you did fire there.

Thanks Zee :)
Here's an update:

Added more shading, and a few details. Did something to the head.

Where's his right wing?
also I think the unneaded dithering is a bit too much here and there. Works well under his head but doesnt work that well on his shoulder I think

Yeah...I tend to over dither alot. Thanks for the warning before I over dithered the entire piece :P
About his wing; he only has one, for orginality and breaking up monotomy.

opacus: youre pixel tech is pretty good, and i really like the pallettes in your works very much. but the forms are always distorted and hard to read, thats what i think you need to improve on. dont mess with interlace dithering and such on a form that noone can read.
one of the benefits of pixel art that cant be accesed through other digital mediums is the clarity brought by the full control over every pixel.

Thanks. Yeah, I get what you mean. Already got rid of most of the dithering after Philipp noted it anyway =)

Better?

I think your fire looks too much like flesh and not enough like fire. I'd throw more white in there and have it less blocky (sharper) if I were you.

I'll try to make it better Fil.
One thing; No anatomy comment? I'd thought I'd get a milion of those.
There must be something wrong with the anatomy, there always is in my pieces :P

If you're looking for crits, what is going on with his legs? Is he kneeling on the ground or is he standing (but we're only seeing top half). If he is kneeling shouldn't we seem some legs and feet protuding at back. The wrist looks a bit long on his right arm. Any reason why he's leaning to his right? Also, would he be like, "Doc, I keep getting
this burning senstation when i pee" .....   :o
Modern artists are told that they must create something totally original-or risk being called "derivative".They've been indoctrinated with the concept that bad=good. The effect is always the same: Meaningless primitivism
