Park

on: April 03, 2007, 01:06:43 am
Something I'm working on for a project (Basically taking a photo and making a pixel art scene of it, but also removing the trash and stuff that's in the original photo) . 17 colors total. Feedback/comments/critiques encouraged!

The background scene looks a little weird. What is it?

The blueish background is supposed to be water. (Since I had to basically make up that part, I think it probably didn't turn out as well as the rest)

Here. I didn't want the people or the buildings/benches in the background either, so I got rid of those.

The shadows of the more distant trees are too long. If they were really that long, they'd go on for...miles, maybe? I also think the water's horizon is too high. It needs more specular hilights. Y' know, make it glitter...I mean sparkle...
On some trees it looks like they're being viewed from slightly above.

Thanks for the comments!

Sure, I could add sparklies to the water, I like sparklies.

As for the long shadows for the trees, you mean the 2 trees on the right side next to the big tree? Just want to make sure before I go off to make changes. And which trees are you referring to as being viewed from slightly above? I don't really notice it, but I guess I'm too used to seeing/making tiles for RPGs or something. But I'll gladly make the changes once I see exactly what you're referring to.

The red lines are what I would change. The blues are what you seemed to have.
I really like the grass, but the trees, aside from the rightmost one and middle-left one, don't seem to match the same...y' know, feel. They're kinda cartoony on top of that realistic grass. You see how all your trees go into the ground with a kind of downward curve? That's mostly what makes them look like they're top-down. Also the way some of the leaves hang down and overlap the trunks.
Mmm...I dunno...take what you will. Hope I helped.

(oh yeah, that one tree had a branch that looked a bit gimpy. I gave it some muscle. Felt sorry for the li'l branch, ya know? ;))

Yes, it's very good work! ))
But not enough colour penetration in shadow trees. In light you use some colors from leaves, but in shadow not and trunk of tree be seem graven from another picture. Use it and this work will be more beautiful.
Maybe my quick edit help you.

I am waiting you sky  :y:
