Don't get too ahead of yourself; Save the dithering for the very end.
The eye is too high up and the ear is too small.

Keep going 'cause it's looking good.

Gathered courage to continue this again:

Finished the hat, lowerd his eyes, upped the contrast.

I personally think you should move away from the generic anime view on this, pointy noses really don't make too much sense imo. Id take on more of what Moonsoon has illustrated into your version, the exposure to the chin is really vital to give it more shape and overall depth, though he's altered the palette somewhat you should still of tried to make the most of your shades in ragard to AAing, theres some evidence of aaing here so my advice would be to use as many shades as necissery as to get from the dark brown to the light peach you have to travel to 3 shades, why not make the most of them.

This is looking great, I don't see the point in so much dithering though, a cleaner look would be much nicer.

keep it up..
I've not got anything interesting to type here..

Honestly, Terley, I never modified the palette. I promise. I used the palette from http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/9796/zeldascreencolourconceplk7.gif

Opacus, I prefer the colors of the previous edit; these new ones have far too much contrast. (Unless you plan on adding some buffer shades, I would advise you stay clear of low color count / high contrast. It will just make the picture grainy when attempting to dither.)

as they said, use your older colors, there's really too much contrast now. I also suggest ditching the dithering, especially if you're going for the more anime look. It makes it look rather grainy and unclean, whereas a more basic and simple shading would look great (just look at Monsoon's edit).
