Are you the same 1up from Pixeltendo?

Beautiful progress so far, but I'm not even gonna attempt to shade that.

You say that you are having troubles shading the face.  Here's what I'd do:
First mentally separate the face into 4 spherical shapes (the back part of the head, the cheeks, and the nose), and then add the highlights where the light hit's each (remember to keep it consistant with the rest of the piece), then thrown in the shade color, similar to what you've done with the hair.
Maybe that will help you...

Also, just something that sticks out a bit: I know they aren't your lines, but I think the staff may bend too much.  Otherwise a great piece so far.  Good luck!
Man cannot remake himself without suffering for he is both the marble and the sculptor.

okay is this good? (the face) and i think i'll try to "unbend" the staff a bit.

You've got some pillowshading causing depth issues

I'm getting confused by the feathers on the headpiece, and I do believe that by your light source the back shell, tooth, and knee should be  in shade.
I was also confused as to why the arm's highlight didn't carry over and just ended.
