Sprite, help, sort, of

on: December 15, 2006, 01:51:03 pm

(ignore the first one, that one's just a year old sprite for comparison)

Now because it's the cool and hip thing to do, I decided to go on with colour reduction, because it's cool and hip; and personally I like the one with reduced colours, however then there are people who go "why make the sprite worse by applying a colour limit that's not even there?"

and it all got me very confused because neither really feels worse than the other;

some comments on if the colour reduction really did harm to the sprite would be nice, thanks.

The nice thing about a limited palette is that if done correctly, it improves unity tremendously. I personally like the color reduced one a little better :y: because it looks like "one sprite" instead of a dress-me-up doll with different colors for each part of the sprite. But you're right...they both look equally good, and honestly I'd never guess that one had less colors.  :P

Amazing what a year will do, eh?  ;)

I see absolutely no damage done. I think the blue in the pants looks better actually. There's also a great deal of improvement from the year old sprite. Congrats.

Very nice.

I much prefer the reduced one with the exception of the light grey highlight on the pants. I think the lightest yellow might look more vibrant in its place.
