link had purple hair in lttp (see pic above) at least in the actual game.
I always heard it was because of palette restrictions he had purple hair, which I never got because he had yellow and brown etc on the rest of his sprite

Strange, and a GBA is not that restricted, I mean, if it was a Gameboy colour, I could've understand the purple hair.
I always thought the purple was part of his hat 
And his belt for example, has yellow on it. But overall, I don't really like the sprites from lttp.
