Hey there!

I've been working on an animated character for a RPG game I intend to make, and would love some feedback on this one.
It's a first real shot at making a character skeleton, and then adding some clothing and other features on top of it. I'm just learning about animation, so I used a base for the poses, which I modified for more fluidity.

Thanks!

-Awkward angle for a character to be walking at
-No distinguishing characteristics for a main character. Currently looks more like an npc. (little bland)
-Walking speed to fast (may work on your game idk)
-Make sure shading is in tune with where you put the sun
-Add a head bob, it makes walking animations look more realistic
-Head and hair contrasts weirdly with lower part of the body
-Clothing and model looks nice
-Shading is nice
-I think you're set if this is meant to be an npc
-Nice detail
-Overall 6/10

Thank you for your quick answer! I tried to fix the colour, but I couldn't manage to make the head move more without it looking weird. It already moves around a bit during the animation (one pixel shift at a time).

Thanks for the feedback!
Unfortunately, I am limited to 3 frames for the walking animation. Do you have a suggestion for where I could start fixing this in my current frames?

I would recommend studying the Mario walk animation. It's three frames:

- Left leg front
- Legs middle
- Right leg front
- Legs middle
- Left leg front
- Lather, rinse, repeat

Though you're limited to three frames, I assume you should be able to have one of those frames repeat, such that your walk cycle is frame 1, frame 2, frame 3, frame 2, frame 1, frame 2..... you get the idea.

Thank you for the feedback and advice!

I decided to start again from scratch after studying animations from other games.

Here are two different front walk animations, for something simpler:

+ OR   +

And I tried again a side walk cycle:

+ +

I would love any feedback and advice on how to make these better!

Thanks

I personally really love your new walk animations! Although the top one for some reason looks like its walking away rather than towards. That will probably be fixed though with some color. Well done!
