Hi there!

I'm very, very new to pixel art.  I'm trying to throw together this Forest picture but I'm having a hard time with a couple of elements.

The forest floor/grass is hard to nail, it feels off perspective wise and I think the colors aren't quite there.  I'm having a hard time with the depth with it as well.  Does it just need more detail?

Also, the backdrop as well.  Obviously it's a rough version, but I'm not sure what to fill it with to give the picture more depth.  Everything I do makes it feel flat.

Not sure how to attach an image, so here's the link:

I think I got the background to a good place, but still looking for help with the grass/forest floor.

I feel like the part that makes it look weird is when you used the dark area to go around the light area and make the "depth" When it gets around the circle to directly in front of the viewer the dark areas look like they are going upwards. The area by the first set of yellow flowers right in the "middle" of the piece..

I don't really know how to fix it because it is already better then I can do, but that is the part that feels off, it feels like the way light is there might not be depth there because you are looking down on it and there is a bright sky light hitting it.
