[Feedback] Retro arcade

on: March 03, 2018, 04:52:42 pm
Hey all,
I'm trying to make a cute arcade which will be later made into stickers, so I'm looking for any kind of feedback :)

The bigger one is the approx. size of the sticker.

The top and bottom look curved because the lines are made of uneven segments. If it's meant to be curved, I think you should exaggerate it more so that it's clearly intentional.

Yes it is :D

Your outline seems to use blue and black pixels at random, and looks a bit noisy as a result.

I tried to soften the angles by using the lighter blue, bad idea ?

I don't think it's working, the contrast between the two colours is too low relative to the background (or white outline, as in your first post). I think with regular lines like this, you don't really need anything. If you do want something, then try AA?

Tried removing some of the blue on my outline.

I'm not sure I get what you mean by antialiasing on this particular image tho ???

The top line is still a weird mix of blue and black. Why not try coloured outlines, black on the shadowed/lower sides, blue on the lit areas?
As for AA, I meant internal AA if smoothness is very important to you. In my opinion, you don't need to smooth anything at all, it looks fine. The blue/black, in any case, isn't helping to smooth it at all. Coloured outlines would reduce contrast a little bit which could reduce jagginess, but imho you're working with such dark coloured for the lines that it won't make a noticeable difference.

Alright, I took your advice and made all my external outlines black, I guess less is more at such low resolution  :)
