Its a nice start. There are some flaws  or inconsistencies in the perspective - i assume he is standing.  There is something making it look as though he is sitting.

I think mostly it is a lighting issue - particularly making the knees look as though they are bent.

Anyway try to clarify and exact position and then crits can be more useful (maybe find a pic from a similar perspective) heres a very rough edit to show some areas that might need fixing.

I've used the head as a lead and fore shortened the legs (the rest would need it too really e.g shorts and chest)

that makes sense, what if I were to darken the lighted area on the legs a bit and bring down the bottom of his pants?

how top down are you talking?

in my opninion it needs to be more like this...

a lot more perspective... I think pushing the lot together a bit more may help the character look a bit less tall (he looks about 7ft there dosn't it? - or at least really elongated) - point being... the lines need to taper down more...

like this maybe?

that perspective is a tad bit extreme for what I'm doing. I'm referring to the "semi top-down" perspective in which the character is nowhere near that extreme but still doesn't look like its head on

thanks

I've always regarded the name of that view as "3/4 view" or "3/4 top down".

Basically you have to do just what baccaman21 did, except orthographically, rather than in perspective.

Right... I get ya...

So that's not scaling the limbs down with tapered appearance.... (like I did initially) just cut out sections and squash them together - (like I did the second time)?

@baccaman21: yeah, there's no tapering, basically, just shortening on the Y axis, none on the X.
