Nostalgia

16 colors
Title is totally random, pretty much the title of the song that was on when I started it.
Feel free to c&c

Love the colors and the AA, the lines look nice and crisp. The construction of the face is wonky. Flipping X would help.

First of all, thanks for the comments.
Yeah, I'm aware of the wonkiness, I've been flipping it through part of the process, though I stopped trying to fix it until it was moderately alright.
Personally I'm not that happy with it, but I just wanted to have it finished. I was growing tired of it.
And no, it's not Anna's portrait. Just started it as a color experiment.

quick edit to show points I'd have trouble articulating without a visual aid.

This is really amazing Panda, awesome colours for sure.

I think it would be good to fix the lips up like in Helm's edit, although I think helm took away from the half-smile you had going on. The texture he achieved is good though. I suggest finding some middle ground between yours and his.

Small edit on the aa
I felt some parts were a bit choppy looking and others could be rounded off a bit and in some areas shouler/arm on right you just got lazy :D
Mainly silly subpixel stuff.

There are no ugly colours, only ugly combinations of colours.

Such beautiful color, and finely tweaked AA. The lips seem a bit over-outlined as opposed to the rest of the features however. Helm's edit is quite nice, however the lips seem overly realistic  compared to the rest of the piece (or perhaps its just the contrast?)

Recently I've really noticed your ability to break the outline with your aa, but still keep the consistency of the outline intact.

And I hate that I can't figure out how it's done.

Thanks for the comments, and the edits are appreciated much.
Will try to fix the lips and AA when going back to it (though it will have to wait a couple of days, as I'm still sick of it :X), But I guess the wonkiness will stay. I'd prefer to move on rather than being stuck with this.

I'm rather happy about the colors though (btw thanks to helm for pointing out that yellow and how it should blend more, I'll take that advice with me for next pieces)

As for the AA, it is getting more of an automatic thing for me (knowing where colors should go and all, except when I'm tired), but practically, you just have to keep trying to use the colors you have, until it looks smooth and not blurry, much like a puzzle I'd say.

This is something quite different from what I've seen recently so alone on that it stands out, and the end result is not only more original, its also quite beautiful. I think Helm's edit make the lips look a lot smoother, but somehow it ended losing some of its charm, maybe it's the fact that she lost the mole? Maybe you can save the mole (make it a bit softer perhaps) and tweak the lips' shading a bit? Also Ptoing's little changes to the AA are a nice addition. The piece is very clean as it is, but in Ptoing's edit it ends looking even more smooth.

Top notch work Panda. Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing.

I love this - it reminds me of bengal's work a lot, only tighter and cleaner - just beautiful!  I prefer ptoing's edit over helm's, because I think her smile is pretty critical to the piece working.  great stuff!

Yes! Holy crap, I couldn't think of where I'd seen this style before. Thanks.
Well, I guess I'll just agree with everyone else in that Ptoing's edit didn't mess with the Mona Lisa esque smile, but I did like Helm's shading.

Must say my inspiration wasn't bengal but Morimoto Koji's 0range book :X, but if it reminds of him I guess it's a good thing, heh.

EDIT:

Edited most of the pointed parts, though I decided to ignore a few of the subpixel edits which I didnt agree much with since they made the line look rather blurry.
Now I will move on >:0

four colors?  I suggest you start clicking on the images and get used to the zoom feature...look it over again.

kokew00t, not only do you bump an old thread, you contribute nothing to it with your post but inaccurancies. It doesn't use 4 colors. You've been making a lot of redundant posts lately, I hope you realize and reign that reflex in. Thank you.
