Really nice so far, won't say much untill its finished. The people are really neat looking, you could of made them a little bit bigger though.

The only thing that bugs me is the people's legs. They look like they've got those cool C-shaped prosthetics on both legs. Maybe try thickening them up a pixel? Other than that it's looking quite good!

Is there some Boktai inspiration here? The style of the legs and outlines reminds me of the way they made Django. Ah well.

As this is still in its early stages, I can't offer much help. I've got some mixed feelings about the orbs on the ground. You might want to smooth out the cracked earth around them a bit and give it some volume. I'm only assuming they're orbs because of their shine. Are they regular rocks?

I think you captured the posture better on the red character. The blue one has dog legs. (they're connected at the back of the thigh and the thigh itself is bending back.)

Like the style you made them in, but it might become a problem once the ground starts getting texture. The legs will most likely dissapear and the body is still lacks some solid shapes to avoid it being confused with dithered areas.

If this mock-up is going where I think it's going, I can't wait for the next update.

You made the characters look pretty unqiue with one colours so nice work :D.
O and my edit.

Used the Blue from one of the... Cabbages? :S. And I did some small facail edits :D.
Sorry if you dont want me to or if you don't like them.

Dithering is a tricky beast. What you need I think, would be more styledither and more bodies of solid color. Suggest texture more, not just lightness. Don't be afraid of dithering a two-times lighter shade over a dark shade here and there to portray porous skin. You need I think a few buffers and a specular for this to work. Palette sorta makes it blander too, you could hue it a bit here and there without much hassle. Hope I helped.

Don't tell anyone but he makes it all with photoshop + the latest version of 3Dmax and then he uses color reduction.   *jealous*

its a monster created from radioactive waste that is deystroying there city/town and is killing people.
all the other beastlies i guess are the same thing, just smaller.
helm: thats not fair! that looks sooooo awesome.

only thing i can say for your boss jww is what ive been saying on aim. im thinking you should take away his tentacles( so they can be freely animated objects) and divide his main body into however many 48's that needs be. then you could do that multicolored thing i showed you. and finally some overlay sprites that would hold his main color. these would go over the 48's and you could use them to blend each section seemlessly.
i have no idea why im giving you such good advice, this is a duel!

wow helm that is very very helpful.  Thanks for taking the time to edit =)
EDIT: forgot to address some of the comments

@snake
thanks for all the commentary. for one, you are correct, this is boktai inspired.  I've always liked that perspective, just never tried it. The orbs are supposed to be somewhat miniversions of the the big boss, the purple one's are eggs, and the green ones are like radioactive spider type creatures.  The 'cracks' in the ground are actually small tentacles.  Thanks for the comments about the blue guys legs, ill try and correct that.
@rerg1
i cant add colours to the characters because of the restrictions.

Technically, you could add more character colors. A lot of GBC games would overlay 2 sprites to double the color count per character. Although this kind ofkills the spirit of a GBC mockup. I really like how this is coming out, can't wait to see more.
