Daemon dump *Naked man parts warning*

on: October 18, 2006, 07:52:07 pm
Ok, so it's not really a 'dump' yet, but I'm experiencing a bit of a demon fetish so more stuff'll probably follow. Here are a couple for now:

The purple guy's trident-thing I'm not too happy with, but it was thrown in as an afterthought at the end, and I think it shows.

The red guy needs quite a bit of polish (some issues with pallet, outline, etc). It marks a bit of a change for me, as the pallet is higher saturation than usual, and it (well, both, actually) are flat shaded, minimally (if at all) dithered, which I'm not so used to... anyway, I'm pretty happy with it/them overall.

Tell me why I shouldn't be.  :-*

Forgot to put up a nudie tag.. or whatever.

The blue guy has a penis! Sorry, just used to flatness there. I don't care how wrong that sounds. Years of watching Barmey and anatomically incorrect cartoons paid off!

That being said, you pretty much critiqued yourself. You could fix the trident by adding more shine to it, and just making it more metallic. The first demon has a few wierd spots on the wings that bug me personally, but it's nothing worth paying attention to. Oh the head on teh second guys looks awkward just because it's big, but I guess that's stylistic thing, and his left, our right, foot, toes have wierd shading (Fix it by shading it same as first toe, or abs?)

So yeah you took all the good ones =(
She's not guarding right now, she's just holding a thing to pass along to her husband warrior and then go do the dishes and change the diapers on the snake-babies.

i think maybe the first piece would benefit with some darkness on the bottom half and more coolio lighting on the top due to his spitting fire thing. I think that owuld look pretty nice maybe... Also you could probably make the fire more "swoosh" like - kind of like a flame thrower. right now it's pretty..not fiery shaped yet? something like that. anyways, i love your colors/overall coolness.

nice!  i like these a lot.  I'd smooth out the hips on the red guy a bit, and I think your blue guy's head needs to go to the right at least 2 pixels for him to look like its actually actually connected to his body with a neck ;)

Great job on these. I do have some c&c for the blue one though. First off; the face looks as if it's in another style than the rest of the body. The head might also be a little bit too large, and he seems to miss a neck. Secons; I do not think you can actually place your hand like he does around the trident. At least it would be very uncomfortable (I tried it). If you want his wrist curled around it like that, try moving it all closer to his side. Another option could be to change the position of his hand to holding the trident straight out from his body... umm how to explain. Like move it around so that he's gripping it from the left rather than the right. I could do an edit if you do not understand what I mean.

Im really tired of not figuring out the whole color basis thing. Your colors are absolutely amazing. It all flows so nicely. Could you tutor me on these things?

Duuude, these are sweet. I also adore the red one.

With the trident, (dont know if it's already been addressed) it seems to be a different style to the actual figure. Of which has a strong sense of depth (perhaps not overall though). The trident is a flat colour, and yet should really have some more shape. Highlights! Also, your AA makes it look fairly wonky, due to the light blue colour which cuts into it's form.

Eww, demon porn.  :o

Assanine jokes aside, I spy wif' me lil beaner eyes an issue with the anatomy. Of the blue demon's, to be exact. I guess you could say thats the way he's supposed to be built, but I just don't think it fits him.
First and foremost, his abdominal region seems off in my opinion. His left Pectoral muscle seems to be painted on to his chest, much like stretched t-shirt and seem to be out of line with the right pectoral, as are his obliques. I would try and shorten the left pectoral by moving the part where the pec' meets the shoulder further back left, and draw the arm pit. As for the obliques(or ribs, or whatever it is depicted underneath his left pec) they should be less parralell with each other, and shouldn't be drawn out that far.( imo, they look like they are bieng drawn out all the way to his back) Also, his six pack travels all the way down to his third knee( third knee you ask? The Wee "knee" of course!). I think that it would look a lot neater, by getting rid of the lowest set of abdominals, or just scrunching them up a bit. Also, with such a big upper body, he seems to have a deficient set of arms. Very puny lookin' if you ask me...and ditto what Mirre said about the pose of the hand and trident.

Aside from the obvious crits though, your style seems to outshine these small flaws. I also agree that the red demon is very sexay'. And you got some good beginnings with the blue devil creature, as I like the pose, and the style of shading.(would be keen for some more demonic teeth though)...Great job though, me likey lots!

***EDIT 10/18/06***

I just got in from work and made a quick edit of your work, Trem (hope you don't mind). I'm not very well versed at describing issues I see as some people are, such as Helm, Ptoing, and Pawige. I think the best way for me to describe this issue is by pixeling it for you. Below is my edited version of your blue demon. I might have accidentally killed your style and blended it a bit with mine( sorry!):

I made the following changes: the upper body, the pectorals, buffed up his arms to match his large upper body, extended his left foot a wee bit, added some detail to the trident, changed his head and gave him a bit of snout from a different angle with a different set of teeth. I decided to leave the leg length alone, as I thought that was the intended look...Hope I helped you out! :)
