Color Scheme/ Possible new icon help?

Hey guys. I haven't been here in quite a bit and thats mostly because of school.
I haven't done pixel art in a bit, but i've been practicing my art like crazy, as always.
And I wanted to make a new icon to hopefully show improvement?
I have two prototypes here-

The first ones colors feel not, as vibrant too me..

The 2nd one, I tried to fix that problem of it not being too vibrant, however maybe a bit too strong?
I'd greatly appreciate the feedback ^^

I think the first one's colours are definitly better, they fit the texture better, since its kind of a liquidy thing you don't have to make the colours very strong. If it were like a piece of metal, then you would want the colors to be strong.

I do think you slacked off at shading the white part, you just have some gross banding now.

 at first I got confused what you meant by the white part and I was like oh the white part of the egg lol I also changed the highlight of the egg-

Update-

Felt too dull in shadow and incorrect shading again so edited to look more suitable, thoughts?

What he means with bending is that your shadow is strictly bend to your outline. That makes the forms look stiff and hardend, like metal. It's definetly something you don't want for a half cooked egg.
Additiv to this: Loose up your outline. You don't have to outline everything with your outline colour. It is not helpful when you want to define your forms.

Lol im so sorry for being gone so long but heres an update-



@Runensucher Thanks a whole bunch, I still need to do the egg white, but i've been off and on this pixel egg for weeks with school and all.
I went by with what you said to lose up my outline, took a look at pixel art references and studies and then everything seemed to click.

I know this is months late but-
I'm super proud looking back onto this and re-working and I'm amazed at the progress i've made too- well art in general and this egg.

I've been super busy, but I wanted to post some progress and hopefully a critique as well. 

I tried my best to shade it and made it look like a nice ol fried egg.

Update:
Tried to make shading more interesting. As well as some things,as well,as an alternative.



Any advice? The 2nd alternative is just a darker version and if no changes should be made I'll most likely use this since it looks more interesting than the egg I posted earlier.

I made some edits to the lineart as well.
